Program Description Discover the rich, cultural heritage of the American West through this five-day immersion within Medicine Wheel Country (from the Absarokee Mountains to the Yellowstone and Bighorn Rivers in Montana). Roam among the largest herd of wild horses in the Pryor Mountains and sample the flavors of saloon-culture in picturesque Red Lodge. Legendary MSU professor and native, Shane Doyle, will host us on a tour of the Little Bighorn Battlefield, hikes through Bighorn Canyon, and activities with Crow Indian students. This epic weekend culminates in a stay in traditional Crow Tipis, at the 3-day Crow Fair, featuring rodeos, parades, native crafts and the largest Powwow of Plains Tribes. The faculty teaching staff of the Lewis and Clark Leadership Project will be at your side to deliver their expertise in both experiential education and field research. This program is ideal for teachers and adults, interested in history, cross-cultural studies, environmental science and outdoor adventure. Optionally, 2 graduate course credits are offered through Little Bighorn College to participants seeking advanced degrees. All other fees will be paid according to the pricing set by your program. These include the costs of lodging, meals, and other services. The cost of credits for this course is $375/credit x 2 = $750 paid to Little Big Horn College The total estimated cost of this experience is $1350.
